I wanted to write more about these mystery tiles.  They are a study for a large series that I am preparing, in which each one of these connected, free associative phrases gets its own treatment.  The so called treatment I am envisioning is a conceptual piece with a lot of working parts not shown here, but the backbone is this succession of wordplay.

(All of this is being prepared in parallel with a wordplay-based exhibition I am planning with a group of collaborators .  If all goes well, it might happen in July 2013. )

For now, this study was a way of giving the phrases a physical manifestation, to see what they looked like on a wall.

I am pretty happy with it.  The phrases are still subject to change and I would welcome any feedback from devoted colleagues.  In particular, I don’t know about “something retarded.”  I was hoping to sort of reclaim the word from it’s more uncomely usages, instead presenting it as the converse to the previous “something to quickly convince someone of something.”  But I don’t know if it plays right.  I need outside impressions, I think.

Did I mention I was invited to join a new collective gallery owned and operated by artists?

Did I mention that this gallery is on the same Larkin Street block where I purchase my quasi-legal pharmaceuticals as my favorite Morrocan restaurant?

Did I mention our first show goes up this February?

It is all true and I am planning something exciting, complete with special effects.  Check out the gradient technique:

I bet Andy Warhol never thought of that, welcome to the future,.

Please check in again soon to see what I am making and how this series comes out.  Or even better come to the show.  I would love the moral support:

Gallery 1044 February 2012 Show
1044 Larkin St, San Francisco
Feb 01-Feb 26
Opening Reception: 2nd Thursday (2/9) 6-10pm
(Did I mention I will be offering this absurdly cheap, unique and gallery-enabled series of screenprints)

Look! I completed a 10 day project of retroactively tagging and categorizing all every feather2pixel blog post written in the last 5 years.

Try clicking on one!

That old stuff gets really embarrassing but I stand by it.

Also–Please notice the tag cloud located on the feather2pixel sidebar.

They go great alone or even better with a fun tie tack!

These are a few urban panoramas I have shot in the last week or so.  You may note that industrial construction equipment and freeway 280 have become the apples of my left and right eyes, respectively.  Anyway the best shot or two might become raw material for new work.  I think I know which ones I like but, hey,  if you feel like it let me know if any strike you. It would be most helpful.

An old school, pro-style offense.

People seem to be much more interested in my studio when I am working on t-shirts.   So maybe out of the goodness of my heart or maybe out of a pitiful need to be noticed, I printed a few tops for friends and family.

My secret weapon: H&M.  How are they able to manufacture garments in Bangladesh, ship them eight thousand miles to the West Coast of the U.S., and sell them at profit for $5.95?  Just a little thing called supply side economics you dumbass liberal apologists.  You jerks are so in love with regulation that if you had your way this rampant federal government would probably be trying to take over the delivery of everyone’s goddamned mail (and taxing me for it).

Anyway the series depicts three figures selected the from the city’s history.  I already executed a second printing, mostly because I carelessly failed to buy any large shirts the first time.

It’s a series of, I don’t know, twenty? Anyone want one? If so, I will heat set and drop in the mysterious blue container outside. It seems to seems to receive, sort, handle, and promptly deliver anything I place in it.

Here’s my latest poster design (that I have no plans to actually screen print myself).  Which is good (because my screen printing studio has suddenly become dismantled).  (More details later.)

So after a lot of frustration, I finally used brush and ink to design a screen print with all organic elements.  Nothing lifted from any cameras or old textbooks.  The project is a poster for my friend Eric‘s band, Silian Rail, and this morning I experimented with mini mock ups on 8 x 14 inch Bristol paper.

My internet goal of the week is to update feather2pixels every day.  Today’s contribution to that heroic task resulted in a seventy minute quest to find the funniest picture on the internet.  The first thing this mission taught me is that Googling “funniest picture on the internet” gets you nowhere.  The second thing I learned is that my friend Louise was right: the world wide web is permanently cemented in a foundation of cat multimedia.  I didn’t really learn anything after that, but I did find what I believe to be the funniest picture on the internet.  Perhaps in light of the dynamic and seemingly boundless scope of the internet, it surprises you that I, my name, discovered its funniest picture.  But I did.   If you can find a funnier picture (that isn’t one of my rejected high school senior portait proofs) email me.  The first person to succeed will get a free set of Kid Monster postcards.  But do not get ahead of yourself.  Before you begin your false quest for the funniest picture on the internet, you need to witness the true funniest picture on the internet   And now behold. The funniest picture on the internet.

Will the former phenom mature into a champion?

If you don’t have anything nice to say, then password-protect your blog.

So the only viable solution for editing this blog for public consumption was to retroactively privitize half the posts. This sucks. This makes me think: what’s the point. Anyway, email me if you want the password.

A very intense training opportunity for midshipmen.
