To the piece of shit who tagged my art at CELLspace last Thursday night:

I couldn’t help but find myself wondering if you consider yourself some kind of artist.  If so, you have a lot to learn about personal standards.   I’m not sure if the stickers you planted all over my screen prints represent your strongest work, but they really weren’t ready for the garden show.

Or maybe felt tipped marker just isn’t your medium.  Either that or you need to cut down on the caffeine before you hit the studio–any cokehead can make neater lines than these.

Maybe I am wrong.  It could be that you are more into the ruining other people’s art angle.  On that count, you’ve come up pretty short too, and this is coming from a dude who’s 5’6”.  I mean, stickers?

Is everything you do this half-assed?

This pretty much says, “I wanted to be a badass who doesn’t give a fuck about the rules, but I didn’t quite have the balls to execute a proper tag.”  You should have just printed some business cards at Kinko’s and taped them to the door.

Anyway, the irony is that some good graffiti would have probably improved the art.  Instead we get this.

A moment of opportunity for us Hamiltonians.

If the public visited my website I would write:

Hey if anyone is interested in getting started with screen printing, you might be interested to know that I am teaching a two night t-shirt workshop through Rock, Paper, Scissors gallery in Oakland.  The workshop takes place last week, which means that  I’m an idiot and it’s too late for you to actually participate.

Good thing its just you and me reading this, friends and Nigerian hackers.

I guess I was laying low because the workshop was a test run of sorts.  Mostly I was a nervous about the ancient screens available for us to use.  You can’t screenprint without a working screen.  But hey, the screens worked fine and I dare say that the workshop really couldn’t have gone better.  I got to travel to West Oakland to spread the Good Word and four very cool people made prints that were way more successful than I dared hope.

Shows Shows Shows Shows!

Hello friends,

This Friday and Saturday my apartment will be hosting an art show that I am impersonally inviting you to. Yeah even you, IP address 58.191.987, the Nigerian hacker that provides my website with 400 hits per month. It’s free and you can stop by casually.

I wouldn’t normally bother you in such a manner, but this particular show is sponsored by Southern Exposure and is even an SF Weekly pick of the week. (And if you can’t trust your local corporate alternative weekly subsidiary for reliable event information in this world, who can you trust?)

The theme of the show is the concept of “home,” and it’s therefore being curated (by my friend Adrienne) in three Mission District homes, including mine. The work is divided by room in themes such as domesticity, migration, and mapping.

Anyway if you were to come, it would personally make me feel cool. And if you need a reason that doesn’t involve my ego: there will be lots of beer. Oh, it would be nice to see you too.

Here’s the postcard:

And on September 3rd,“Spacecraft,” our first Thursday series at CELLspace is happening from 6-9pm.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, then password-protect your blog.

So the only viable solution for editing this blog for public consumption was to retroactively privitize half the posts. This sucks. This makes me think: what’s the point. Anyway, email me if you want the password.
