Magic Magenta

Work continues on the new pieces from video frame grabs. Something that will always bring me back to screen printing is the insight into the aesthetics of perception. For example, behold the power of a simple layer of tranparent magenta. Printed on top of what I had before, the magenta generates a million new hues and tones. Or is it the illusion of a million new hues and tones? From a distance, the eye cannot resolve this question. From a certain perspective, this is a pedantic detail. From an alternative, more correct perspective, this hints at a truth of perception: illusions don’t trivialize our ability to experience the world, they expand that ability.
