II finally got around to photographing the second of two “Future” variations in my Tricky Triangle series. This version of “Future” is a little different from the first version. In this more recent variation, the homemade stamps are printed on American oak veneer rather than paper and I love how this sets up a basic visual illusion. The stamps float above the surface of the work, but since they are printed on wood they look like windows to the substructure of the artwork. The perforated edges really make this effect sing.
“It’s certainly improbable and probably it’s certain that a simple cone of light is an impenetrable curtain.” [The Future] Mixed media screen print in cedar box | 30 x 30 x 4 in | 1 of 2 variations | 2015
